Sega Neptune Games Journo Watch: 3 days later…

May 15, 2011

Okay, we’ve talked about this a while ago, and to my (not) surprise, Sega’s big news is once again largely whitewashed in all the major north-american and european websites, some curious examples follow:

Eurogamer.net spins the Sega Sammy profits story as a snarky remark on how Sega exploits the movie tie-ins: “Iron Man vindicates Sega’s movie milking“. By this title alone, you’d never guess in a million years that this was referring to the Sega-Sammy annual fiscal year report.

More serious publication, such as MCV UK, VG Chartz and Gamasutra did not attempt to post a misleading title.

Gamespot makes no mention of Sega Sammy’s annual fiscal report, it should be noted that IGN’s search also finds no results on Sega Sammy’s annual fiscal report. What I found intriguing is that the Sega Sammy layoffs story from 2008 was posted a grand total of 6 times in different console sections.

GamePro’s last mention of Sega Sammy’s profits go all the way back to… 2007. ShackNews.com also mentions nothing on the report save for the final quarter report in Febuary 2011.

The Kotaku blog layout is giving me a headache, so I’m gonna stop for the moment, but I think you guys get the idea.
