Obscure Japan-only Genesis game will make it’s way onto XBLA/PSN soon

March 31, 2011

Seriously, someone should have the present of mind to, you know, control the ERSB rating listings, they seem to be notorious at leaking stuff that hasn’t even been officially announced yet:

Surprise! Monster World IV is heading overseas. The ESRB rated the Genesis classic as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for North America.

This is an action-platformer in which players guide a ‘cartoony’ girl through side-scrolling levels to save her world from evil spirits. As players run and jump through each level, they use a sword to defeat whimsical creatures (e.g., mummies, walking mushrooms, slime blobs) and larger bosses (e.g., a caterpillar woman, a winged man). Enemies blink when hit, and quickly disappear when defeated.

Interesting, Sega been mostly re-releasing a lot of it’s Genesis titles, namely the more obscure ones, the ones that never actually got a release in the West. Like, for example, Golden Axe 3. Monster World 4 is one of those examples. If this is true and we’ll obviously be playing the waiting game, then Sega will also have to go through the trouble of translating it. Go nuts!
