Conduit 2 shooting for 3DS

February 4, 2011

Maybe, but it’s likely to become a reality. When the first Conduit was released a year ago, the Wii first person shooter came exclusively for the Wii. It’s upcoming sequel, though, as Eurogamer have revealed today with an interview High Voltage Software Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger, looks to be diverging onto Nintendo’s 3DS.

“We’re still early. The resolution is definitely lower, but the screen real estate is smaller so it balances out. We’ve not had a lot of severe optimisation yet, but we’re going to be able to have something very close to this [Conduit 2] on the 3DS probably by GDC.

Nofsinger goes on further to explain that some levels are already up, and core in-game mechanics such as weapon fire and weapon select are putting nicely. But development for this port is clearly in its infancy, and SEGA haven’t even given the go ahead as of yet.

“I would guess that SEGA will be interested, I had a nice conversation just yesterday with their head of artist and repertoire. At DICE, the conference in Vegas that’s coming up, we’ll probably have some more chats.”

Huh, well, should SEGA flash the green light this is just one more reason for us to get the new and upcoming platform. It would certainly be a nice splash colour to the opening line of games available for the 3DS – as we’ve seen in the past, a light and fluffy line-up meant for cautiously testing the shallow waters before they are dredged is typically what we get for the first few months when regarding a kid/family friendly platform.
