Sega confirms Dreamcast Collection!

December 14, 2010

I guess Gamestop was right all along, as Sega today has revealed that the company will indeed release a boxed version  of the upcoming compilation, but what’s in it? Sega won’t say:

Sega’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard has confirmed that the publisher will release a Dreamcast Collection for current-gen machines.

Recent weeks have seen the release of both Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi on both XBLA and PSN, with Space Channel 5 also in the pipeline.

It’s unknown if the retail SKU will simply include the previously released digital titles or offer an alternative selection.

“The Dreamcast fans are very devoted – you see on eBay people are still buying the games and system,” Pritchard told Game Informer when asked about the possibility of a Dreamcast 2.

“We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced.

Far from me to tell Mr. Pritchard how to run his bussiness, however, it would be a bit redundant to release the same titles that have been already released on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade. My thoughts? Go for the bigger titles, the ones that wouldn’t make it due to size restrictions on XBLA.
