Dreamcast Memories: You broke my heart, Shenmue!

September 10, 2010

Sega and Yu Suzuki’s greatest project which allowed you to literally live Ryo Hazuki’s life and enjoy the lifestyle of  80’s japanese culture. It was one of the most expensive game projects at the time, it was an adventure game, but it had all the elements of racing, RPG, combat and even revitilised the QTE’s which have been thought to have died in the early CD-rom era.

Sadly, for all of Shenmue’s merits, it felt short on expectations and it’s sequel bombed on both Dreamcast and Xbox. Sega has been coy and unwilling to commit to a new title, though it’s principal protagonist did return in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.

I agree. This video is great. Really takes me back.

Just a heads-up, there’s another Dreamcast Memories coming out in a few hours, so be prepared.
